One super easy way to increase your energy expenditure is to simply move more throughout the day. . Something that gets over looked with regards to weight loss is NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenesis) this is basically all movement which isnt gym/structured exercise related. . The more you can increase your NEAT on a daily basis by doing some of the things highlighted in this infographic youre energy expenditure is going to go up therefore youre more likely to be in a calorie deficit and lose weight. . Don’t eat until 12 O’clock midday then stop eating at 8pm. This type of eating has a tonne of benefits as you can see from the image but i originally began using it as it makes eating in a calorie deficit so much easier. Say you’re eating 2000 calories in a day and breakfast normally uses 600 of them. Well now you have 1400 calories for the whole of the day (lunch dinner plus snacks). Eating in this way also frees you up from having to worry about food until lunch time. This means you can really get stuck into your work. What you can consume in your fast: Water Coffee or tea – no milk Zero calorie drinks So give it a try and see how you feel using it. Do you know how much cardio you should be doing to lose weight?.. Last up in our mini series on cardio is the big question. How much cardio should you be doing? Let’s dive straight into the detail. ‍ The bottom line is you should do as much cardio as you need to keep your fat loss progressing. You don’t need to do it right from the outset either (unless you want to do it for health reasons). Adding cardio when your progress stalls is a great way of keeping things moving. If you’re a guy then you could probably get to c.10% body fat without a drop of cardio. Then to get that extra push start supplementing your programme. I typically tell people to aim for 2-3 sessions per week. HIIT is normally the go to option because we’re all busy people and don’t want to spend a lifetime in the gym. But do what works for you. Your weight on the scale each day gets massively influenced by things like hormones stomach contents water retention etc… ___________________ Which is why youre MUCH better off weighing yourself daily finding weekly/monthly averages and then looking at how your weight trends over time ___________________ Just check out the example above . LOSE YOUR FIRST 10 When I was first starting my weight loss journey I had no clue where to start. Other than stop eating crappy food Tim. I didnt know what things to do first that would help. Although the one thing I did know is how I felt. Using that intuition I slowly began to eliminate certain temptations in my day. I will not lie to you this totally depends on how much soda you drink in the first place but the month I stopped drinking soda I lost 10lbs by that alone. So try out… Drinking more fresh water. I would say about 6-8 x 8oz glasses. Eliminate soda! It can come back once your in better control. And of course diet is an alternative I just cant stand the flavor the Dr Pepper one is the best IMO. Reduce sugar intake! I recommend nothing more than 10% of total cals. So if youre working with 2000 cals. Take 10% (200 cals) and divide it by 4 (cals in gram of carbs) and you will be allowed 50g daily. Get out more! Especially if you have a bigger dog that needs to move also. Or t...

Ask yourself how will I feel after making this choice? – The simple act of stopping for 2 seconds and thinking about the consequences of your actions is extremely powerful. – As humans we often act on emotions without putting real thought into it. – Taking the emotions out of it by being mindful and thinking ahead about the consequences will often be enough to make us realise this isnt the best action to take for my goal. – If after you have thought about it you still want to smash the 6 pack of Krispie Kremes then do it but dont moan about it afterwards. – Own your decision but learn from them. – If and when the guilt comes ask yourself another question what could I have done to avoid this? I use to think that if I wasn’t following a specific diet or crazy strict nutrition, that I was gaining weight or not making progress toward my fitness goals. I would be so obsessive about my food choices that it was hard to enjoy life with friends and family, which I quickly found out, would lead to feeling massively overwhelmed at times and even like I was expecting myself to do the impossible more often than not. Ever feel like this? I’ve learned that this is actually a ‘perfectionist’ mindset and an all or nothing mentality. Yes, it got results when I was ‘perfect’, but the second I made a choice that was not ‘perfect’, it backfired, I felt guilty and awful and it led to a downward spiral self-sabotaging choices. Failing of track and not being ‘perfect’ made me feel like a failure. I realized I needed to find balance, an eating lifestyle and flexible structure, so I could break free from this awful cycle.
